It's Dumbo, so there's mystery behind every building. One that's caught our attention is 181 Front Street. When you step off of the F Train at York Street, or stand at Jay Street, just after Sands, and start walking toward the East River, in the great distance, just beyond the vacant lot that’s 85 Jay Street, you'll see the red sign with white text: "181FrontStreet.com 1-3 bedroom rentals."
The building’s website keeps its cards close to its vest: offering a rendering of the building's front entrance; one shot of an apartment's interior (which includes a glimpse at a balcony that appears to face east, and look out over Downtown Brooklyn); one of the lobby (featuring a man in a slim brown suit, looking dashing and ready to assist with anything that you or your guests might need); and one rendering of the roof deck at dusk (don't miss the bouquet of flowers placed with precision in the very center of the trim metallic table that accompanies the plush white couches, on which residents will take in years worth of sunsets, and if they're willing to get up early enough, sunrises).
Don your Sherlock Holmes hat and pipe and walk by on a Saturday morning –– you just might solve the mystery. Or visit 181Front.com and register. They'll send you more information. And little by little, you'll see a few more of their cards.
